THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE

As a people living in the 21st century, we are spoilt for choice. We have different options that we can choose from; from our tase of food to the types of clothing we wear to the types of holidays that we enjoy. We can even choose the different routes to our holiday destinations, the scenic routes or the quicker routes, if we are stuck in traffic, we can choose alternative routes to get to our destination and this is wonderful, it is also a sign that we are in control of our lives and not forced into one way.

But when it comes to our eternal destination there isn’t much choice. Jesus put it this way in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me”

I’m not sure if you have thought about it very much but in this current age, this is seen as an outrageous and largely unacceptable statement to many… so narrow minded we say… yet this is a claim that no one can or should ignore.

We may hear many thoughts and “ideas of man” concerning the way because we like options in life but Jesus points out here that this is out of the control of man, in a manner of speaking.

Our part in this is to choose wisely, on Calvary stood three crosses many, many years ago but only one of those crosses leads us to Salvation.

Beloved, be not deceived:

• Jesus Christ is the Way – the only Way for that matter.

• He is the Truth – that which can set you free,

• and the only source of eternal life.

This truth is not only for the afterlife but it is a key for successful living. When we put our trust and acknowledge Jesus as the way, truth and life, he is giving us a better way to live our lives through him. He is showing us that through following him daily in faith, he will lead us to a better, richer, more meaningful life than we could ever find on our own.
